150th anniversary

What a wonderful day we had on June 30, 2024, when we celebrated 150 years of Ascension serving Hinton and Summers County.

greenspace

Our green space construction is well underway, and Shalom Park will be dedicated June 30 following morning worship.  We pray this space will bless our community. Call Sister Nancy at 304-860-9446 if you have questions about using the park.

earth day

Earth Day provides the world with an opportunity to focus on our planet as a unique, bountiful gift. It helps us remember that we must continue to protect our air, water, and natural resources so that generations to come may enjoy this beautiful gift of Earth. Ascension partners each year with the Summers County Huddle to help educate and create awareness about our fragile home.

Fill the fence

At various times throughout the year, members of Ascension's congregation fill bags with food and hang them on the fence surrounding Town Square Park in downtown Hinton. Anyone is welcome to take a bag, and they usually are gone in a matter of hours, as food needs in the downtown neighborhood is great. We also fill the fence with hats, mittens, socks, and scarves when the weather begins to turn cold. We hope to offer other items as time goes on.
